First Duck Blog

I've often wondered if it would ever be prudent for me to blog about my favorite college team. I decided it was time to join the 22nd century and so here I go.

I have been an Oregon Ducks fan since, oh, sometime in the last century. That being said, lets get started.

Oregon vs WSU, 6:15 pm Saturday, October 3rd, 2009.

Lets look at the numbers (because I'm a numbercruncher type of guy):

Oregon is 3-1 with wins over Purdue and Utah (not necessarily quality wins, but wins nonetheless) and then there was Cal.

WSU, 1-3 has a OT win over SMU, 2-1 with wins over Steven Austin and UAB, not real powerhouses of FBS football.

If we look just at the numbers then the ducks should be the 30 odd point favorites. However, there are those intangibles. To name one, it's those dang fumbles. Fumbles were both our near demise and our savior in the Ducks game against Cal.

No fumbles against Cal and they don't score. I'm not sure how many fans realize that without those fumbles by Cal, that game could have turned out waaaaay different.

Still, WSU should be the polish that gets us a win at UCLA which should be more polish for the "mistake by the lake" which should be the final shine for USC.

Now, I have a word about Coach Kelly and Blount. Right now, at this time, I think both are all about class. Everything I've seen Coach Kelly say and do just oozes class and especially the way he handled Mr. Blount. Just pure class. LB, I still expect great things out of you - it's called character and integrity. You have those two and you can do anything in the world and it looks to me like you do.

Now that I've gotten to rave about CK, I need to rant a wee bit too.

Oh well, I can't really find anything to rant about, so I won't - LOL.

For a first blog, I haven't really prepared as I should, but it's a start. I will also be blogging about our Lady futbol players and our net grabbers - both of whom I'm very impressed.

So until I get on again - May The Quack Be With You.
